Prominent Entertainment Partner Boosts McDermott’s LA-Based Commercial Litigation Strength

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery continues to expand its robust litigation practice with the addition of Jeffery (Jeff) McFarland, a highly regarded entertainment litigator who primarily represents major media production companies. Jeff is the most recent arrival to McDermott’s growing litigation group and the third partner to join from Quinn Emanuel in the last month, on the heels of high-profile insurance litigators Jane Byrne and Guyon Knight in New York.

“McDermott is always looking ahead and making targeted moves to expand our regional and national capabilities. Adding a highly talented trial lawyer to our already skilled practice will accelerate growth in the entertainment space,” David Rosenbloom, global head of McDermott’s litigation practice, said. “Jeff is a force in this space and we think clients will benefit not only by working with Jeff, but by utilizing the full range of services we provide to optimize results-always our highest priority.”

Jeff focuses on general business litigation with a niche for entertainment industry disputes. He represents talent agencies and managers, actors, producers, directors, video game publishers, media networks and studios. This client work spans business and intellectual property litigation, trademark and copyright infringement litigation and class-action lawsuits. Jeff also works with real estate developers and financial institutions regarding their lender liabilities and other financial litigation.

“McDermott is a true full-service platform, known for remarkable outcomes across all practice areas. I look forward to bringing an added strength to McDermott, forging a mutually beneficial partnership with an unwavering client focus,” Jeff said.

Additionally, top class-action partners Joshua Simon, Warren Haskel and Dmitriy Tishyevich and their teams joined from Kirkland & Ellis in March.

Jeff holds a JD from the University of Utah’s SJ Quinney College of Law and a BBA in finance from Loyola Marymount University. He previously served as co-chair of Quinn Emanuel’s National Media & Entertainment Practice.
