Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international energy, technology and life sciences law firm, announced today that prominent energy and infrastructure lawyer Mona Dajani has joined the firm as a partner in New York. She will become Global Co-Chair of Energy Infrastructure and Hydrogen and Co-Chair of the firm’s Energy Sector. Dajani joins the firm from Shearman & Sterling, where she was Global Head of Renewables; Global Head of Energy & Infrastructure (Projects); Head of the Hydrogen and Ammonia Practice (Americas); and Co-Head of the U.S. Energy team.
Ms. Dajani’s global practice has involved representation of some of the largest blue-chip clients worldwide. In her over 20 years of practice, she has led numerous energy, sustainability, and infrastructure deals, including on complex mergers and acquisitions/dispositions, project development, financings, joint ventures, restructuring, tax equity and tax credit financings involving energy and related infrastructure facilities in the U.S. and around the world. The transactions she has led involve solar, wind, hydrogen, hydroelectric and geothermal, as well as ammonia, mobility, various energy deals with data centers, electric vehicles, carbon capture and sequestration, renewable natural gas, biofuels, net-zero technology and other energy transition projects. She has significant experience in syndicated loan and debt capital markets transactions, sustainable finance, ESG, water and transportation projects, and arranging capital for new and established energy and infrastructure companies. She has represented a wide variety of commercial and public institutions, sponsors, utilities, financial institutions, underwriters, energy and clean technology companies, private equity funds, investment banks and multilateral agencies in transactions throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Ms. Dajani is consistently recognized for her work in energy and energy transition transactions for over two decades. She is recognized by Chambers as a leading lawyer for Projects: Renewables & Alternative Energy – USA Nationwide (2022 & 2023) plus a leading lawyer by The Legal 500. She was also selected as part of the inaugural list of 50 Women to Watch by Corporate Counsel Business Journal in 2023 and selected to the 2023 New York Metro Super Lawyers list in 2023, which honors only 5% of attorneys in the New York Metro area who exhibit excellence in their practice (Thomson Reuters 2023). In addition, she was named one of the “most influential lawyers in the global wind energy sector”, according to industry intelligence provider A Word About Wind.
In November of 2022, she was appointed for a three-year term as a U.S. Department of Energy Ambassador for C3E. Mona is also a Construction Lawyers Society Fellow, a member of the national Board of Directors for the American Council of Renewable Energy (ACORE) and serves on the Board of Directors for ABANA – the preeminent U.S. organization for finance professionals and institutions with interest in the Middle East and North Africa.
