DLA Piper announced today that Scott Weber has joined the firm’s Litigation practice as a partner in the New York office. Weber joins from CNA Financial Corporation, where he was executive vice president and general counsel.
Mr. Weber previously served as managing director and inside threat leader for Stroz Friedberg, a global risk management firm specializing in cybersecurity, digital forensics, insider threat detection and prevention, compliance reviews, due diligence and investigations. He also previously worked in private practice.
Weber has extensive experience in complex federal and state civil and criminal litigation, regulatory actions and government investigations, in which he has both defended targets and acted as special counsel on behalf of government entities, and international arbitrations.
“Scott has deep experience in a range of areas that are of great importance to our clients,” said Loren Brown, global and US co-chair of DLA Piper’s Litigation practice. “His two decades of private practice litigation, investigations, and regulatory experience, along with his in-house background, give him a unique perspective that will resonate with clients in many sectors.”
“Scott’s unique background and valuable combination of experience will help enhance the firm’s multi-disciplinary approach, particularly in the area of cybersecurity,” said Richard Hans, managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “We are thrilled to welcome him to the firm.”
Weber received his J.D. from Boston College Law School and his B.A. from Rutgers College.
