Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today the arrival of partner Eric Simonson to the firm’s Corporate department in New York. Simonson joins Seyfarth from Blank Rome LLP where he was a corporate partner in their New York office. While there, he was a member of the mergers and acquisitions, securities, and Asia practice services as well as the emerging companies, private equity and venture capital industries, among others.
For more than 25 years, Simonson’s practice has focused on a broad range of corporate services including mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, corporate finance, securities matters, technology transactions, and capital raising activities. He has advised clients in a large variety of industries such as telecommunications, biotechnology, consumer products, healthcare, and media.
“Eric’s experience and reputation in private equity and M&A transactions are exceptional,” said Paul Mattingly, chair of Seyfarth’s Corporate department. “As private equity continues to see large activity nationally, Eric will flourish as a key member of our private equity team.”
“Eric has a well-established pedigree in middle-market M&A, capital markets and corporate advisory matters,” said John Napoli, co-managing partner of Seyfarth’s New York office. “He has successfully advised a mix of corporations, entrepreneurs and financial professionals and we are excited for him to join our collaborative team in New York.”
Simonson received his J.D., cum laude, from The University of Chicago where he was a member of the Law Review. He earned an A.B., magna cum laude, in History and Economics from Colgate University. Earlier in his career, Simonson was Law Clerk to the Honorable Frank H. Easterbrook, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.
“As we continue to grow our corporate capabilities internationally, we are impressed with Eric’s track record representing a number of Chinese and other East Asian companies in their efforts to access US capital markets,” said Lorie Almon, co-managing partner of Seyfarth’s New York office.
Simonson’s arrival follows the recent additions of partners Gabriel Monzon-Cortarelli and Howard Jiang, who also joined the firm’s Corporate department in New York. Seyfarth’s Corporate department focuses on areas such as mergers and acquisitions, securities, investment management, corporate counseling, commercial transactions, financing, international business, and tax planning.
