Brown Rudnick LLP, an Am Law 200 law firm with offices in the US and Europe, announced today that leading antitrust attorneys Helene D. Jaffe and Alan R. Kusinitz have joined the Firm’s New York office as partners. Both Ms. Jaffe and Mr. Kusinitz join the Firm from Proskauer Rose where Ms. Jaffe was head of the Antitrust practice group. Prior to that, Ms. Jaffe served as co-head of the Antitrust Group at Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
With the addition of Ms. Jaffe and Mr. Kusinitz, Brown Rudnick will be introducing its new Antitrust practice. The Antitrust practice will be led by Ms. Jaffe and will be an important complement to the Firm’s existing corporate, healthcare, life sciences and white collar practices.
Brown Rudnick remains committed to the continued growth of its platform in New York, and has now added eight lateral partners to that office over the last six months in the white collar defense, intellectual property litigation, and corporate practice areas.
“We are delighted to welcome Helene and Alan to the Firm,” said Brown Rudnick Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Joseph F. Ryan. “Helene and Alan bring a wealth of sophisticated antitrust, litigation and regulatory experience, and will provide our clients across the globe with important new resources. As head of Antitrust at her previous law firm, Helene is a well-known and highly regarded figure in the antitrust space. The world’s leading companies regularly turn to Helene and Alan for counsel in high stakes matters that involve issues related to antitrust and competition law.”
Ms. Jaffe concentrates her practice on the transactional, counseling and litigation aspects of antitrust law with a focus on mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, single firm conduct and distribution matters. She represents clients, across a wide range of industries, buying or selling companies in the U.S. or around the world and appears before global, federal and state antitrust agencies and the federal judiciary. She also represents clients whose pricing, promotional or marketing practices are under scrutiny or challenged by the Antitrust Division, Federal Trade Commission and other state and federal regulatory agencies. She has been involved in numerous Lanham Act advertising, trademark and trade dress cases, encompassing injunctions and bench and jury trials.
Mr. Kusinitz focuses his practice on complex litigation, including antitrust, trade regulation and intellectual property litigation; representation of clients before the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission; as well as counseling on government investigations, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances and unfair competition issues.
Prior to joining Brown Rudnick, Mr. Kusinitz was a senior counsel in the Litigation and Antitrust groups at Proskauer. He previously served as an assistant attorney general to the Antitrust Bureau and Litigation Bureau in the New York State Attorney General’s Office providing trial, industry, IP and economic advice.
“Alan and I are very pleased to have joined Brown Rudnick, a firm that enjoys a sophisticated transactional platform that will complement our antitrust and litigation practices,” said Ms. Jaffe. “The entrepreneurial spirit at Brown Rudnick has propelled the firm’s impressive growth, and we look forward to contributing to that continued growth by working to make the Antitrust practice a global force in the marketplace.”
