International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that Andrew Morris has joined the Firm as a partner in the global Tax practice, based in Weil’s New York office.
“A recognized leader in the private investment fund taxation area, whose tax knowledge is broad-based and includes significant private and public M&A expertise, Andrew will be an outstanding addition to our premier Tax team,” said Weil Executive Partner Barry Wolf. “In addition to having advised on some of the largest and most complex transactions in the past decade, he shares our Firm’s commitment to collaboration and excellent client service.”
“Andrew brings deep and broad knowledge of private investment funds taxation, along with passion for his practice,” commented Joseph Pari, Co-Chair of Weil’s global Tax Department. “He also has significant experience representing a wide array of leading alternative investment asset managers – on all aspects of their businesses.”
Andrew joins Weil from the New York office of Linklaters LLP, where he was a tax partner. With a practice focused on federal income tax matters, he advises private equity firms and multinational corporate clients on investment funds and products, mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, spin-offs, internal restructurings, and the development of novel cross-border financing instruments. His involvement in complex M&A transactions encompasses multi-step LBO takeovers, as well as distressed asset dispositions and restructurings.
“I am thrilled to be joining Weil’s sophisticated global Tax practice and look forward to partnering with the Firm’s talented lawyers across all practices and geographies,” Andrew said.
