Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Jennifer Mazawey as a partner in the Real Estate practice area. Mazawey joins K&L Gates’ Newark office from Genova Burns LLC.
With more than two decades of experience, Mazawey advises clients on a range of matters related to real estate and construction issues. She regularly represents developers in the various phases of the development process, often appearing before planning boards and zoning boards of adjustment. Mazawey frequently aids clients with their acquisition of local and state incentive opportunities to help fund their projects. She also assists clients with permit acquisitions, interfacing with regulatory agencies at both the state and federal levels, including the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the New Jersey Department of Transportation, as well as appearing on behalf of clients before the Public Employment Relations Commission, the Office of Administrative Law, and state and federal courts.
In addition to her real estate focus, Mazawey also has extensive experience in education law. She has served as counsel to boards of education and trustees throughout New Jersey, advising on areas such as board governance, labor relations, special education, and school construction.
Matt Norton, a leader of the firm’s global Real Estate practice, stated: “We are delighted to welcome Jennifer to the firm and to our global Real Estate practice. Her real estate and construction experience, particularly in land use law, are a welcomed addition to our practice area and will be a great asset to our clients both in New Jersey and firmwide.”
Mazawey’s addition follows the arrivals of real estate partners Larry Woodard in Chicago and Jennifer McCosker in Sydney earlier this year. The firm’s Newark office also welcomed government contracts partner Rebecca Moll Freed in July.
Anthony La Rocco, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Newark office, said: “Jennifer is a sophisticated land use attorney who enjoys a strong reputation as one of New Jersey’s top practitioners in this arena. She will immediately add to our existing formidable bench strength in the practice area, while at the same time significantly complementing our environmental and commercial leasing capabilities in the region. We are pleased and very excited to have Jennifer join our partnership ranks.”
Lawyers in K&L Gates’ large, diversified Real Estate practice advise clients in a variety of real estate investment, land use, planning and zoning, development and construction, financing, leasing, tax, and litigation matters around the world.
