Allen & Overy (“A&O”) today announced that Lisa Nguyen has joined the firm as partner in A&O’s Litigation & Intellectual Property practice, and will be based in Silicon Valley, CA. Lisa joins from Latham & Watkins, where she was a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice.
Lisa’s hire follows A&O’s 2021 hiring of eight partners from White & Case’s technology team, deepening the firm’s technology litigation offering and the hiring of intellectual property litigator Sapna Palla in New York. This also follows A&O’s hiring of five partners from the Goodwin Procter’s IP Litigation practice and the opening of a Boston office. Lisa serves as another key addition to A&O’s Northern California presence, which was established through the opening of new offices in Silicon Valley and San Francisco in August 2021.
“We are thrilled to accelerate our goal of building a truly scaled and high-quality patent litigation offering and continue our expansion in Northern California with the addition of Lisa Nguyen,” said U.S. Senior Partner Tim House.
Karen Seward, Global Head of Litigation, added, “Lisa is welcomed by an incredibly skilled, diverse team and will undoubtedly enhance the breadth and depth of our bench strength and technology IP litigation services.”
“Lisa brings tremendous expertise in complex intellectual property matters and will be an important asset to our team and global client base,” said Bijal Vakil, global co-head of A&O’s Technology practice and partner in A&O’s Intellectual Property practice. “We will benefit from her deep experience as we continue to build a well-integrated, global IP litigation offering and expand our reach on U.S. and cross-border engagements.”
Lisa said, “I’m delighted to be joining A&O’s technology team in Silicon Valley and can’t wait to continue the success they’ve started. A&O has shown tremendous growth and opportunity in this sector and region, and I look forward to working alongside my future colleagues to bring top-notch, holistic service to clients.”
Lisa joins Allen & Overy as the 39th lateral partner hire in the U.S. in the last 24 months.
Prior to joining Latham & Watkins in 2011, Lisa practiced law as an IP litigator at Wilson Sonsini. Lisa earned a J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School and a B.A. in Computer Science & Legal Studies with high honors from the University of California, Berkeley. She is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
