International law firm Bird & Bird today strengthens its Compliance & Investigations offering with the appointment of white collar crime expert Jean Tamalet as a partner in its Dispute Resolution Group, based in Paris. He joins from corporate crime boutique firm Tamalet & Associés, which he founded.
Jean has assisted clients in several of the biggest white collar litigation cases of the last ten years, developing deep expertise across several areas of corporate criminal liability. He regularly assists corporate officers and legal entities, particularly in matters relating to financial offences and criminal liability in France and internationally. His practice also includes advising on matters relating to corruption, cybersecurity and fraud.
Bird & Bird’s Dispute Resolution Group contains experts with wide-ranging experience and expertise across the firm’s key industry sectors. The practice advises on all forms of dispute resolution, including litigation; international arbitration, ADR including mediation; corporate governance advice and investigations.
This appointment is in keeping with the global trend of increasing scrutiny and rising enforcement from global regulators, which led to Bird & Bird setting up a Compliance & Investigations team, bringing together experience in this field from across the firm’s practices, sector groups and international offices to create a coordinated client offering. Jean’s arrival follows the recent additions of Andy Brown and the new Tax Disputes team in London, Carsten Beisheim in Dusseldorf, Adam Kowalczyk in Warsaw and Will Langran in Stockholm.
Joining with Jean are two associates, Aurélie Chazottes and Lucas Vincent, both formerly of Tamalet & Associés.
Alexandre Vuchot and Benjamine Fiedler, Co-Heads of Bird & Bird France say: “The arrival of Jean and his team is a key part of our strategy in the Paris office – to continue to grow and develop our litigation practice in France. Jean’s appointment will also significantly boost our Compliance & Investigations team not only in France but internationally. We look forward to welcoming Jean to the team.”
Peter Knight, Head of Bird & Bird’s Dispute Resolution Group says: “I’m thrilled to welcome Jean – a renowned corporate white collar crime expert – and his team to Bird & Bird. His extensive expertise advising on corporate criminal liability further equips our growing Compliance & Investigations team to assist clients in a time of crisis.”
Jean adds: “With the recent implementation of a new anti-corruption law in France, there is a significant increase in activity and enforcement in this area. Bird & Bird’s strong presence in the French market and its international network will help develop my practice and support the needs of my clients as we guide them through this time of change. I am very much looking forward to working with my new colleagues at Bird & Bird.”
