The team advises French and foreign clients on mergers & acquisitions (M&A), private equity and joint ventures as well as on strategic alliances and transactions involving listed companies. Working closely with BCLP’s competition, labor and tax teams, it is also active across a wide range of industries, including energy, telecom, technologies, media and real estate, among others. Roland Montfort began his career at Coudert Frères in Paris, then worked at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP (2000-2003). He later joined Lefèvre Pelletier (2003-2008), where he became head of M&A before becoming managing partner of Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP in Paris (2008-2015).
Roland is a lawyer admitted to the Paris, New York and Brussels Bars. He advises clients on a wide range of transactions, including sales and acquisitions, reorganizations and partnerships of major groups, small and medium-sized businesses, and investment funds in various sectors (consumer goods, automotive, energy, manufacturing, aerospace and defense, and life sciences) on reorganizations, divestitures, acquisitions and joint ventures. Prior to joining BCLP, Roland worked as a partner at EY Société d’avocats, where he was Global Law leader for Consumer Products and Retail. He was on secondment in the Chicago office for more than two years during which time he developed its capabilities in cross-border transactions for French groups in the United State, and American groups in France. In particular, they carried out all the international aspects of one of the most important spin-off operations in the market: the spin-off of the United Technologies Corporation group into three independent listed entities.
“Roland’s arrival is part of the growth strategy of our French and global corporate/M&A team. His deep knowledge and experience of the international arena allows us to strengthen our M&A offering to assist our clients with start-ups, investments and growth via M&A activities, both in France and internationally. This arrival is in line with the firm’s plan to have strong teams for each growth area, including corporate transactions,” commented Olivier Mesmin, co-partner in charge of the Paris office.
“I very much look forward to joining BCLP’s Corporate/M&A Team in France, which is part of a recognized international team. This allows me to use my cross-border experience with all the required agility and resources to assist clients whose challenges are increasingly global and complex or require increasingly specialized and immediately available technical sector knowledge,” Roland added.
Roland is a member of the Paris, Brussels and New York Bars and holds an LLM from New York University.
