Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Banking Practice with the addition of Emilie Rogey as a partner in Paris. Rogey joins from Jones Day.
“There has been growing demand from financial institutions for regulatory advice since the global financial crisis of 2007,” said White & Case partner Eric Leicht, Head of the Firm’s Global Banking Practice. “The addition of Emilie in Paris as a dedicated regulatory partner in a key European market will be a great benefit to our clients in France but also expand the range of our regulatory capabilities across Europe.”
Rogey advises financial institutions, investment firms and fintech companies on regulatory and compliance matters, including market abuse, anti-money laundering and governance requirements, and the regulation of investment services, banking activities, fund management and payment services. She also assists those institutions in the context of SREP reviews, regulatory investigations and procedures. In addition, Rogey advises on the regulatory aspects of M&A, capital markets and banking transactions, as well as strategic partnerships and the setting-up of newly regulated entities.
“Financial institutions across Europe are having to respond to an increase in the volume and pace of regulatory change,” said White & Case partner David Plch, Regional Section Head, EMEA Banking. “Paris has a large banking practice and the addition of Emilie will add further specialist capabilities to our banking offering there as well as our EMEA-wide regulatory proposition.”
Denise Diallo, White & Case Executive Partner in Paris, said: “Emilie’s experience and capabilities present significant synergies with other practices in the Paris office, notably Litigation and M&A, as well as with other offices of the Firm. Her addition continues the growth of our Paris office following the arrivals of private equity partners Saam Golshani, Alexis Hojabr and Guillaume Vitrich in December, litigator Diane Lamarche in April and the three partner promotions in the office at the start of this year.”
Oliver Brettle, a member of White & Case’s global Executive Committee, said: “Growth in financial institutions is a strategic focus of the Firm and the arrival of Emilie builds on the recent additions to our banking practice in Europe of Fernando Navarro in Madrid and Jonathan Rogers and Fergus Wheeler in London, in addition to the seven partner promotions in our global banking practice at the start of this year.”
