Herbert Smith Freehills announced today the recruitment of real estate specialist David Lacaze, partner in the international real estate practice, along with a senior lawyer, based in Paris.
David and team join from Paul Hasting’s Paris office.
David is a highly experienced practitioner with over 15 years’ experience in the field. David brings a wealth of cross-border experience advising on complex real estate transactions for investment funds. He has also developed a sub-specialism in the hospitality and leisure sector – and was involved in one of the largest pan-European acquisitions in the sector to date. David’s strong international client portfolio includes leading financial institutions and investment funds.
David Lacaze is a member of the Paris bar and holds a DEA in business and economic law from the University of Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne and is a graduate from HEC Business School, Paris. David will work closely with the real estate partners in Europe, including Paris-based partners Pierre Popesco and Florence Chérel to cater to even more clients in the hospitality and leisure sectors.
Donald Rowlands, head of real estate, UK/EMEA, commented:
“I’m delighted to welcome a senior lawyer of such high calibre to our top-tier global real estate practice. The addition of David to our Paris team will be crucial to helping us deliver on our ambitious plans for the growth of our European real estate practice and will complement the investments we have made in Germany and Madrid to augment our top-tier UK and French practices.”
Pierre Popesco and Florence Chérel, real estate partners in Paris, added:
“David’s arrival is a very significant milestone for the real estate practice in the Paris office and will undoubtedly be of benefit to our clients. His background and expertise perfectly complements our existing strong team which has, in recent years, been involved in a number of key instructions for both French and international clients. We look forward to working as a close team, supported by our wider real estate practice, to continue to build a leading international offering.”
