Jones Day adds Thomas Bouvet and patent team to Paris Intellectual Property Practice

The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Thomas Bouvet has joined the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice as a partner in its Paris Office. A team of three associates, Eddy Prothière, Isabelle Bertaux, and Laura Romestant, are accompanying Mr. Bouvet to Jones Day.

A noted patent litigator, Mr. Bouvet also advises clients on trade secrets, plant variety rights, issues related to unfair competition and passing off, contractual enforcement, and matters pertaining to employee inventions.

“Thomas and his team bring deep experience in patent litigation which will significantly strengthen our capabilities in Paris and throughout Europe,” said Anthony M. Insogna, leader of Jones Day’s Global Intellectual Property Practice. “They bring to Jones Day a very successful track record in the areas of patent validity and infringement, and will be a valuable addition to our growing global intellectual property team across Europe, the U.S., and Asia.”

Mr. Bouvet and his team have vast experience in patent validity and infringement, standard essential patents, plant breeders’ rights, and patent entitlement. His team is positioned to expand the range of IP services to the Firm’s clients in the areas of litigation and general patent advice. Additionally, Mr. Bouvet and the new associates will enhance the IP practice services offered by Emmanuel Baud’s team, already noted for its work in trademarks, copyrights, and protected geographical indication (PGI).

“Joining Jones Day is the opportunity for us to integrate a worldwide recognized practice, with teams dedicated to intellectual property in the Firm’s 44 offices worldwide, including 10 in Europe and 17 in the United States. We will be in a great position to represent our clients in international cases, before national jurisdictions and the future Unified Patent Court,” said Mr. Bouvet. “Jones Day’s One Firm Worldwide approach in all areas of law is particularly adapted to the setting up of international teams in such litigation cases.”

Mr. Bouvet’s team will collaborate closely with Jones Day’s other practices in Paris and throughout Europe, notably the antitrust, regulatory, and corporate law teams.

“The arrival of Thomas and the three new associates demonstrates the Firm’s commitment to hiring truly outstanding professionals,” said Sophie Hagège, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day in Paris. “This addition to our presence in Paris, like other recent hires here, advances our objective of creating additional synergies between our local practices and the Firm’s vast resources around the world.”
