Latham Adds Prominent Restructuring Partner in Paris

Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Alexandra Bigot has joined the Paris office as a partner in the Restructuring & Special Situations Practice. An accomplished practitioner, Bigot’s practice focuses on advising investors, shareholders, and distressed companies on a variety of complex financial restructurings and insolvency proceedings. Bigot joins the firm from Willkie Farr & Gallagher’s Paris office.

“We are delighted to welcome a partner of Alexandra’s experience and market standing to the firm,” said Olivia Rauch-Ravisé, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in Paris. “Alexandra has a terrific track record advising on complex domestic and cross-border restructuring transactions, and she will play a key role in the continued expansion of this strategically important growth practice in Paris.”

Bigot regularly advises on out-of-court and multi-jurisdictional restructuring matters for debtors, sponsors and hedge funds, with particular expertise in distressed leveraged buyouts (including loan-to-own strategies) and the sale of underperforming or distressed assets of multinationals. She also advises corporate investors, hedge funds, and recovery funds seeking investment opportunities in insolvency proceedings and out-of-court restructuring cases, with particular expertise in handling distressed matters.

Former Paris Office Managing Partner Xavier Farde, who studied with Bigot 30 years ago at HEC Paris business school , added: “Alexandra is one of the elite practitioners in France and her arrival marks a major milestone for the firm in Europe. She brings an incredible mix of skill, expertise, and market prominence from many years’ experience in private practice and as an investment director in a private equity firm. We are very focused on establishing a top-tier restructuring capability to complement our existing strengths in M&A, private equity, capital markets, and finance in Paris, and Alexandra’s experience has a lot of synergy with our practice.”

“Alexandra is a first-rate lawyer who brings a wealth of experience acting for private equity firms, credit funds, distressed investors, and debtors to our market leading team in Europe,” added Simon Baskerville, Global Vice Chair of the Restructuring & Special Situations Practice. “With her arrival, we will significantly enhance and broaden our existing practice, so that we can strengthen and add to our existing client relationships.”

Bigot represents the latest partner to join Latham’s growing global Restructuring & Special Situations Practice this year, following the arrival of London partner Jessica Walker and New York Partner Suzzanne Uhland.

Bigot graduated from HEC Paris business school in 1990, and attended the University of Paris XI where she graduated with a Masters in international taxation.
