Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm’s growth in Europe is continuing with the addition to the Paris office of Charles Cardon, a corporate partner with a focus on takeovers, M&A, private equity, and capital markets transactions, from Dechert.
“We’re meeting our clients’ demand for deeper European capabilities in M&A, private equity and finance,” said Seth Zachary, chair of Paul Hastings. “Charles brings extensive, valuable experience in these areas and is a welcome addition to the Paris office as we continue to grow,” he added.
“Paul Hastings’ strong growth story and outstanding track record of impressive deals in Europe was very attractive to me,” said Cardon. “The firm’s Finance and Corporate practices are building tremendous momentum, fuelled by strong lateral partner additions and outstanding client work,” he added.
Cardon advises funds in a wide range of transactions including LBOs and stock exchange related deals, such as acquisitions of public target companies by way of PtoP and IPO exits. He advises public companies in the context of their takeover bids (as advisor of target companies, bidders or shareholders); issuance of securities, governance matters, disclosure requirements and relationship with shareholders, as well as corporate law matters.
This news follows the arrival at Paul Hastings of a three partner private equity team in London and Washington D.C. in July this year; M&A and capital markets hires in Los Angeles and São Paulo in August; and the hire in the Paris office of leading French tax partner Bruno Leroy in May.
The Paul Hastings Private Equity practice advised on more than 150 deals globally in 2018 alone, and in excess of 400 private equity sponsor financing transactions in the last four years. The firm won both “M&A Team of the Year” and “Private Equity Team of the Year” at the Transatlantic Legal Awards 2019; and was ranked #3 in Europe for Legal Expertise in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Report Europe 2019.
