Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney announces that Jason E. Murtagh has joined the firm as a shareholder in the Labor & Employment section. Murtagh will practice in the firm’s Philadelphia and San Diego offices serving clients with interests on both coasts. Mr. Murtagh joins Buchanan Ingersoll from Rubin Fortunato.
Murtagh assists large companies in the financial services, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, energy and other service industries with risk avoidance, managing employment litigation and protecting trade secrets. He also has extensive experience in areas of commercial litigation and product liability, and cases in arbitration and mediation, including FINRA, JAMS and AAA. Murtagh regularly represents clients in matters of employee raiding and recruitment, privacy and theft of trade secrets, wrongful termination, constructive discharge, defamation, fraud, consumer protection and breach of contract.
“Jason is a fantastic addition to our firm and to our existing team of attorneys who specialize in restrictive covenants, FINRA arbitration and trade secret protection,” said Joseph J. Centeno, shareholder and co-chair of Buchanan’s Labor & Employment section. “Additionally, Jason’s successful bi-coastal practice will be of great importance to our clients who face challenges navigating California’s unique employment laws.”
“Jason is a great strategic fit for our Labor & Employment section, especially given his industry focus in the areas of finance and life sciences. Jason will be able take full advantage of our national trade secret practice and collaborative industry driven culture.”
“Given my clients’ needs on both coasts, I am thrilled to join Buchanan’s exceptional Labor & Employment group and offer my clients access to the firm’s national platform. I look forward to helping grow the firm’s West Coast presence and working alongside former and new colleagues,” said Murtagh.
Murtagh received his J.D. from Cornell Law School and his A.B. from the University of Georgia. He has tried cases across the United States and is one of the few lawyers to have won an appellate argument before the U.S. Supreme Court.
