Goldberg Segalla Significantly Expands Toxic Tort and Product Liability Practice With Addition of Two Partners in Philadelphia

Goldberg Segalla welcomed partners Robert J. Hafner and Elizabeth A. Weill to the firm’s Product Liability and Toxic Tort Practice Groups in Philadelphia. With a collective six decades of experience handling complex and high-value torts for a variety of leading manufacturers and other companies, these partners are the firm’s second major hire in Philadelphia this year following the addition in late August of seven attorneys focusing on toxic torts and environmental law.

Bob has earned national recognition for his defense of leading manufacturers across a variety of industries facing complex and high-value torts. His experience includes defending manufacturers of consumer electronics, medical devices, agricultural and industrial equipment, and medium to heavy-duty trucks and tractors. He currently serves as national products liability counsel for one of the world’s leading manufacturers of electronic and information technology products for the consumer and professional markets. He also serves as regional toxic tort claims counsel for one of the country’s largest truck manufacturers, with responsibility for New York City, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Bob earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Scranton and earned his J.D. at Villanova University School of Law. From 1985–88, he served as law clerk for the Hon. E. Mac Troutman in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Liz counsels and defends a wide range of national and international companies involved in product liability, toxic tort, commercial, and other complex litigation. An accomplished trial attorney and appellate advocate, her experience also includes mass torts and class actions. She also counsels clients on insurance coverage issues, litigation preparedness, risk management, data management, and e-discovery. Her clients include clients include global delivery corporations and manufacturers of vertical and horizontal transportation devices, industrial machinery, automobiles and heavy vehicles and their components, lawn and garden equipment, and other industrial and consumer products.

Liz earned her bachelor’s degree at Cornell University and earned her law degree at the University of Pennsylvania.
