Global law firm Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that Denis Segota has joined the firm as a partner in the Corporate and Finance practice group. His arrival will bolster the firm’s capabilities in the life sciences and health care transactions space in the Americas. Segota, who joins the firm from Baker & McKenzie where he was a partner, brings more than 20 years of experience in counselling clients in the life sciences industry.
His clients range from multinational pharmaceutical and medical device companies to emerging growth life sciences companies. He partners with companies on collaborations, licenses, strategic alliances, royalty monetization transactions, complex joint ventures and other commercial transactions promoting the research, development, and commercialization of novel compounds and medical devices. He also handles mergers and acquisitions (M&A), inclusive of marketed products and divestitures and private financing transactions, including representing private equity firms.
Global Corporate & Finance Practice Group Leader James Doyle commented: “Our elite global M&A practice was busier than ever in 2021, and we expect that momentum to continue in the New Year. Denis is the perfect person to help us meet the surging needs of our clients in the life sciences and healthcare space, and his arrival furthers expands our team in the Americas, which this past year added life sciences corporate partners Andrew Strong and Barry Burgdorf in Houston.”
Steve Abrams, who is based in Philadelphia and co-leads the firm’s Life Sciences and Health Care industry sector, added: “Denis brings sophisticated licensing and collaborations experience in the life sciences area. He has handled many ‘buy-side’ transactions in the biotech space, such as licensing, collaboration and joint venture deals, as well as product and private company acquisitions. Additionally, he has negotiated the back-end, contingent milestones and royalty payments for M&A transactions, among a variety of other financing transactions. He is another terrific addition to our growing life sciences and health care team.”
Segota remarked: “Hogan Lovells has one of the premiere corporate and finance practices in the world. Additionally, the firm boasts a global regulatory group that is second to none with a strong IP patent prosecution and strategic counselling practice. Combined, the firm will provide me with an excellent platform for growth and expand my practice in the U.S., Europe and Asia.”
Segota has been recognized in the field of M&A in both Chambers USA and The Legal 500 U.S. He earned both his bachelors and law degree from Rutgers University.
