Bringing with him 17 years of experience defending attorneys and other professionals, Josh J.T. Byrne has joined the Philadelphia office of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin as a shareholder in the firm’s Professional Liability Department. Mr. Byrne comes to Marshall Dennehey following a long career at Swartz Campbell.
Mr. Byrne focuses his practice on the representation of attorneys in legal malpractice, wrongful use of civil proceedings, and disciplinary board matters. He also represents many other types of professionals in the federal and state courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and before disciplinary boards.
He is the co-chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Professional Liability Committee and former co-chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Professional Guidance Committee. He serves on the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Ethics Committee and as a Zone One delegate to the PBA’s House of Delegates. He also is a Judge Pro Temp for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

A prolific writer, Mr. Byrne publishes extensively on ethics and malpractice avoidance and authors a reoccurring column in The Legal Intelligencer on professional liability topics. Well known on the speaker circuit, he frequently presents to bar associations, law firms, and other business organizations throughout Pennsylvania on ethics, professional liability, and malpractice avoidance.
Mr. Byrne is a graduate of Earlham College and Rutgers University School of Law. He is rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating for professional competence.
