Timothy D. Katsiff—a litigator with more than 20 years of experience defending companies and their directors and officers in securities class actions, derivative actions, and merger litigation—has joined Ballard Spahr as a partner in its Philadelphia office, firm Chair Mark Stewart announced today.
Mr. Katsiff represents audit and special committees of boards of public companies, broker-dealers, and individuals in U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and self-regulatory organization proceedings. He also handles commercial disputes, business torts, trade secrets matters, and banking cases.

Mr. Katsiff joins the firm from Morgan Lewis, where he was a partner. He has defended public companies in merger-related shareholder suits in California, Delaware, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas. He has represented major financial institutions in various matters. His experience also includes defending a major energy company in a large commercial contract dispute and representing a defense contractor in various contract disputes.

Mr. Katsiff will be a member of Ballard Spahr’s Securities Litigation and Corporate Governance Litigation Group. The Group has been ranked in the highest tier among firms in Philadelphia in U.S. News & World Report – Best Lawyers Best Law Firm rankings every year from 2013 to 2017.
