Holland & Knight announced today that renowned trial lawyer Carolyn Short has joined the firm as a partner in its Philadelphia office. Ms. Short will head the firm’s Philadelphia Regional Litigation team. She previously practiced at Reed Smith, where she was the co-leader of the firm’s Business & Corporate Disputes team.
Also joining Holland & Knight in Philadelphia are Senior Counsel Jonathan Korman, who will be a member of the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group, and corporate Associates Kristin Antario, Megan Cribbs and Samantha Peruto.
Ms. Short focuses her practice on commercial and employment disputes, including class action litigation, corporate governance issues, high-level executive investigations and management issues. She represents publicly traded multinational corporations and defends federal and state class action matters; antitrust, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, employment discrimination, securities fraud and medical devices cases; and various other commercial matters.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Short was called upon by high-ranking state officials to handle sensitive public investigations and disputes. In January 2005, Sen. Arlen Specter asked her to serve as general counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary for Supreme Court nomination hearings for Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Samuel Alito.
Ms. Short was honored as one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s “Best of the Bar: The Top Legal Minds in Philadelphia” in 2017 and was among the publication’s “Business Women of Distinction” in 2016. In 2006, she received the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Lynette Norton Award, which recognizes female attorneys who excel in litigation skills and are devoted to assisting other women who follow in the profession.
“Carolyn is one of the best known and most highly regarded litigators in the state and we are delighted that she has joined us,” said John Martini, the executive partner of Holland & Knight’s Philadelphia office. “As a highly skilled trial lawyer and master strategist who works closely with in-house counsel on their most important matters, she is the perfect choice to lead our new office’s litigation team.”
Holland & Knight announced the opening its Philadelphia office on July 10, 2018. The office is located at Cira Centre, 2929 Arch Street, Suite 800. The telephone number of the office is 215.252.9600.
