Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP grew its Litigation Practice with the addition of Charles Markle as shareholder in the firm’s Phoenix office. Markle arrives at the firm from Fennemore Craig, PC in Phoenix.
Markle focuses on a niche practice area of Real Estate Litigation involving a multifamily acquisition strategy for investors also known as condominium termination transactions. He has developed deep experience with real estate statutes across several states, advising investors on condominium acquisitions and disputes. Markle counsels clients throughout the process, including any resulting litigation, of developing the individual condos into leased apartment rentals. He has testified before the Arizona State Legislature’s House and Senate Commerce Committees to bring his condominium termination experience to bear on proposed bills and amendments to the state’s statute.
“I had the privilege of working with Charlie in the nonprofit world and saw first-hand that he’s a needle-mover in terms of client development and community engagement,” said Nicole Goodwin, managing shareholder of the firm’s Phoenix office. “Charlie’s novel condo termination experience will continue to strengthen Greenberg Traurig’s storied Real Estate Practice in the West where entities in Arizona and beyond need sophisticated legal counsel who understand multiple jurisdictions. He’s a talented litigator who uses creative problem solving to achieve results for his clients.”
In addition to his Real Estate Litigation practice, Markle is a commercial litigator working on business dispute resolutions, breaches of contract, partnership dissolution, and fraud matters. He uses mitigation strategies and underutilized litigation tools such as provisional remedies to achieve early victories on behalf of his clients and avoid years of litigation.
“As one of very few attorneys in Arizona who works on condominium terminations, I’m very excited to plug into the world-renowned Greenberg Traurig platform,” Markle said. “As my practice grows nationally, I’m looking forward to providing clients with the full service that comes with access to a global firm’s resources.”
Markle serves on the board of directors of the nonprofit Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC). He received his J.D., cum laude, from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and a B.A. from Colorado State University.
