Dentons Welcomes Stefan Dann in Pittsburgh

Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, announces that Stefan A. Dann has joined the Firm’s Corporate Group as a Shareholder in the Pittsburgh office. Dann comes to the firm from McGuireWoods LLP.

Dann maintains a robust transactional practice representing financial institutions and borrowers in all facets of commercial and real estate finance transactions. His work encompasses asset-based and acquisition financing, leveraged finance, and other lending transactions, including secured and unsecured, syndicated, and multi-currency credit facilities.

“Stefan’s versatile skill set and pragmatic, business-centric approach to financial transactions help augment and strengthen our corporate and finance teams,” said Michael Winterhalter, Co-Leader of Dentons’ Corporate National Practice Group. “His work helping clients achieve their commercial and real estate finance goals here and across the US will be a distinct asset as clients look to take advantage of opportunities that will position them for success.”

Dann maintains an active pro bono docket, working closely with the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund’s (TLDEF) Name Change Project. The Name Change Project provides pro bono legal name change services to low-income transgender, gender nonconforming, and nonbinary people through partnerships with law firms and corporate law departments. Over the past three years, Dann has logged more than 1,300 hours of pro bono work, handled 200+ name change matters, recruited and trained lawyers and law students to assist with name changes, and in the process, helped hundreds of individuals whose legal identities now match their lived experiences.

Working with the Name Change Project and Judge Christine Ward of the Court of Common Pleas, Dann was instrumental in creating a unique name change procedure in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, that standardizes often-complicated rules and — more importantly — provides a degree of anonymity and safety for the transgender community. In recognition of his efforts, in September, TLDEF will bestow Dann with the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award. Dann was also recently honored as a finalist for the 2022 Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year award by Chambers and Partners and is a past recipient of the Professional Excellence Award: Diversity Initiative by The Legal Intelligencer, and the Ally Award by the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Committee for Diversity and Inclusion.
