Morgan Lewis Adds Insurance Litigator Paul Fuener in Pittsburgh

Expanding its legacy liability insurance recovery capabilities, Morgan Lewis has welcomed Paul Fuener as a partner resident in Pittsburgh. Paul arrives from K&L Gates and will represent entities, including receiverships, in pursuing insurance proceeds recovery for legacy liabilities, including toxic torts and environmental damage.

“As a long-time litigator who has represented companies of all sizes and industries across the United States, Paul offers a depth of understanding of the inner workings of the insurance recovery process,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “His history advising on a variety of coverage concerns also aligns with the needs of our clients who seek trusted representation and advice.”

Paul has spent nearly 20 years representing policyholders in insurance coverage disputes in the United States and internationally. He has also advised on insurance coverage matters, including commercial property damage; asbestos, silica, and toxic tort product and premises liability claims; and environmental liability claims. Paul has also counseled clients from a range of industries on complex underwriting and risk management issues.

“Paul’s presence in Pittsburgh not only fits with our strategic plan to boost our profile in the area, but also will enable the firm to meet the rapidly growing client demand for insurance proceeds recovery for legacy liabilities,” said J. Gordon Cooney, Jr., leader of the firm’s litigation practice. “He is a skilled negotiator and litigator who brings a breadth of knowledge on these issues.”

Since January 2023, Morgan Lewis has also welcomed five accomplished trial lawyers to our market-leading legacy liabilities practice: partners Paul Scrudato and Jill Berry resident in New York, partner Thomas Burns resident in Chicago, as well as partner Peter Moir and of counsel Stephanie Spardone resident in Dallas.
