Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Sean Hoar as the new chair of its Data Privacy and Network Security Practice.
A veteran security and privacy attorney, Hoar comes to Lewis Brisbois with 20 years of experience managing digital crises and containing information security incidents.
“Sean is a nationally respected leader in the cyber practice area and we look forward to his leadership in this growing field. He is not only a great lawyer, he’s a delightful person who we know will succeed here,” said founding partner Bob Lewis.
Hoar’s practice includes counseling businesses on privacy and security best practices, countering cyber security threats, facilitating incident response planning and risk assessments, and managing responses to data breaches.
“I am excited to join Lewis Brisbois as chair of its Data Privacy and Network Security Practice. Its national platform, diverse culture, extensive array of legal services, and strong relationships within the cyber insurance industry provide a unique opportunity to serve our clients,” Hoar said. “I’m looking forward to working with a great team and helping clients in all business sectors keep their information private and secure and to effectively respond to data security incidents.”
In the course of his career, Hoar spent more than a decade as the lead cyber attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Oregon, where he was the point of contact for federal agencies investigating system intrusions and other digital crime emergencies.
Hoar has trained federal investigators and prosecutors on the acquisition and use of digital evidence and instructed foreign officials on anti-terrorism and cybercrime awareness.
Lewis Brisbois’ Portland Managing Partner Eric J. Neiman notes that “Sean’s practice also adds an important new dimension to the healthcare practice in the Pacific Northwest offices of Lewis Brisbois. We are extremely happy to have him join us.”
