Greenberg Traurig Welcomes Former California State Assemblymember Roger Dickinson to its Government Law & Policy Group

Greenberg Traurig, LLP is pleased to announce that former California State Assemblymember Roger Dickinson has joined the firm as a shareholder in its Government Law & Policy Practice. Dickinson will be located in the Sacramento office, where he served as a member of the state Legislature and Sacramento County Board of Supervisors for more than 20 years combined.

“Roger’s hire continues the strategic expansion of Greenberg Traurig’s Government Law & Policy Practice,” said Chuck Birenbaum, Greenberg Traurig’s chair of Northern California. “The Government Law & Policy Practice has long been a core Greenberg Traurig practice at the federal, state, and local levels. As the California economy grows stronger, Roger’s experience with planning, permitting and financing public and public-private partnership transportation, health and other economic development projects will be invaluable to our clients. In Sacramento, Roger joins a seasoned and effective group geared to solving client issues throughout California. We are proud to welcome the Assemblyman as the newest member of our team.”

“I am very excited to join Greenberg Traurig and have the opportunity again to use my legal skills in private practice,” said Dickinson. “I look forward to applying my background and experience as a local and state legislator to assist the firm’s clients with their government law and policy matters throughout California.”

Dickinson focuses his practice on a wide range of matters involving government law and policy, including ground water quality and sustainability, air quality, and other issues arising from business and economic development. He offers strategic counsel on the implementation of the governance, planning, and implementation requirements of AB 1739, ground water management legislation which he authored. He also advises clients about air quality issues, including the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the California Global Warming Solutions Act (AB 32).

Sacramento Co-Managing Shareholder Jeffrey Leacox adds, “It is a pleasure to welcome Roger to our growing team. Roger has been involved in planning, permitting and financing public infrastructure projects for more than 20 years, including Raley Field (home of the San Francisco Giants Triple-A affiliate the Sacramento River Cats); the Primary Care Center for Sacramento County; the Sacramento International Airport terminals, and the successful public-private partnership established to convert the closed McClellan Air Force Base into a thriving business and technology center. Combining Roger with our recent hire, former Senate President Pro Tempore Darrell Steinberg, gives our clients knowledge and experience with California state and local government that no other firm can match.”

Dickinson earned his J.D. from University of California at Los Angeles, School of Law and his B.A from the University of California at Berkeley.
