Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Christopher J. Bakes and Gary K. Brucker Jr. as partners in its Sacramento and San Diego offices, respectively.
Bakes is a noted trial lawyer who is widely recognized for the breadth and depth of his practice; the high profile of his cases, matters, and transactions; and the results he has obtained in a range of industries.
“I’ve already visited four Lewis Brisbois offices – and you can hear the collegial buzz the instant you walk in the door,” Bakes said. “Folks love to work and practice law here; it’s an exciting vibe, and I’m glad to be here. My clients are delighted, too, with the firm’s national reach.”
As a trial lawyer, Bakes has represented some of the largest companies in the world and has litigated multiple high-value contract cases, including information technology and intellectual property disputes, healthcare contracts, government contracts and contracting, research and development contracts, and major construction and real estate development contracts, among others.
Also joining Lewis Brisbois is Brucker, a skilled trial lawyer with experience handling a wide variety of complex civil and criminal disputes, with a particular emphasis on the representation of businesses facing civil or criminal liability as a result of employee misconduct, such as bribery, discrimination, fraud, harassment, self-dealing, and theft of trade secrets.
“I’m excited to join a national law firm with such a significant California presence and have been impressed by Lewis Brisbois’ ability to retain the agility and feel of a small firm during a period of rapid and stable organic growth. Lewis Brisbois’ national platform, high caliber attorneys, and friendly environment make it a great fit for me and my clients, and I look forward to working at such a renowned firm,” Brucker said.
In addition to his work handling employee misconduct matters, Brucker also has experience with complex business and regulatory disputes, retail sales, landlord-tenant and neighbor disputes, government investigations, and white collar criminal defense.
Bakes is a member of Lewis Brisbois’ General Liability Practice, and Brucker is a member of Lewis Brisbois’ Commercial Litigation Practice.
