Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has added John Nordlund as its newest shareholder in its San Diego office. Nordlund joins the firm from Jackson Lewis P.C.
Nordlund has more than a decade of experience representing employers in a wide array of both federal and state employment litigation matters. He has handled class and representative actions concerning wage and hour violations, including under the California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA); discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims; breach of contract issues; and wrongful termination matters, among others.
“We’re excited to welcome John to Littler and believe his extensive litigation experience will be an invaluable asset to our clients in California,” said Erin Webber, Littler’s managing director and president. “More than ever, employers are looking for versatile, experienced and trusted litigators like John who can represent and advise them in their most complex matters.”
Nordlund also defends employers in matters before both federal and state agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Industrial Relations – Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, the California Civil Rights Department, and the California Employment Development Department.
“John’s deep familiarity with California’s wage and hour laws, including PAGA, coupled with more than a decade’s worth of experience defending employers before California agencies will be an important resource for our clients as the state continues to have an outsized impact on the U.S. employment law landscape,” said Al McLaughlin, Littler’s regional office managing shareholder for the San Diego office. “He’ll be an excellent addition to our office.”
In addition to his litigation practice, Nordlund provides advice and counsel for management on a range of workplace and employment-related issues.
“I’ve long admired the impressive team at Littler and look forward to drawing on their talent and the unrivalled resources the firm has to offer,” said Nordlund. “I’m excited to leverage all of the firm’s capabilities to better service my clients.”
Nordlund received his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of California, San Diego.
