Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Tracey K. Merwise has joined the firm’s San Francisco office as Partner. Ms. Merwise, who previously served as Co-Chair of Severson & Werson’s Labor and Employment practice group, has more than 17 years of workplace law experience.

Prior to joining Severson & Werson, Ms. Merwise served as Senior In-House Counsel in SBC/Pacific Telesis’ Labor and Employment Department and worked at both Heller Ehrman and Seyfarth Shaw. She specializes in helping employers de-escalate workplace conflicts to minimize litigation risk and has provided legal advice on all aspects of workforce management, including employee leave, performance management, reasonable accommodations, workplace violence prevention and wage and hour compliance.Ms. Merwise also has extensive experience defending employers in individual plaintiff and class action lawsuits.
Ms. Merwiseis a Certified Workplace Dispute Mediator and is admitted to practice in California. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Labor & Employment Section of the American and California Bar Associations, and the Bar Association of San Francisco, which recognized her in 2011 as an Outstanding Volunteer in Public Service.
Ms. Merwise received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her B.A. in Government cum laude from Dartmouth College.She was a law clerk to the Honorable John W. Bissell, United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
