Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that David Chiappetta has rejoined the firm as a partner in the Litigation practice. Chiappetta returns to Perkins Coie from Corrs Chambers Westgarth in Melbourne, Australia, where he prosecuted antitrust and consumer protection cases on behalf of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the Australian government’s competition watchdog.
“We’re very excited that David is rejoining us here in San Francisco,” said Barbara Schussman, Office Managing Partner of Perkins Coie’s San Francisco office. “David’s 20-plus years of antitrust, consumer protection and litigation experience are a great fit for us locally and nationally, and his recent enforcement experience working with the Australian government is an ideal complement to his substantial defense experience.”
Chiappetta has represented major corporations in a wide range of litigation matters with a focus on class actions, complex contractual disputes, antitrust and consumer protection claims. He has also counseled clients on issues that may give rise to antitrust concerns such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and policies relating to pricing and supply. Chiappetta has extensive experience in merger clearance and assisting clients in responding to government inquiries and investigations relating to antitrust and consumer protection claims.
Chiappetta received his law degree, with honors, Order of the Coif, from University of Washington School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in English, Economics and Political Science from Willamette University. He received the Thomson Legal and Regulatory Prize in Litigation and the Inner West Law Society Prize in Litigation from the University of Technology, Sydney.
