Sidley Austin LLP is pleased to announce that Joshua Hill has joined the firm as a litigation partner in the San Francisco office. For the past four years, Mr. Hill has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of California. He is a member of the firm’s white collar, securities litigation and complex commercial litigation practice groups.
While serving as a federal prosecutor, Mr. Hill investigated and prosecuted a wide range of offenses, including wire and mail frauds, bank fraud, criminal tax, child exploitation, human trafficking, firearms and narcotics, and immigration crimes. An accomplished trial attorney, he tried seven cases to jury verdict. Before his tenure with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, he served as a litigation associate at Heller Ehrman and at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, where he worked on a variety of commercial litigation matters.
“Josh is a strong litigator who has repeatedly proven his talent in the courtroom,” said Anne E. Rea, the member of Sidley’s Management Committee responsible for its West Coast offices. “He is a great addition to our litigation practice and continues our ongoing expansion in Northern California.”
Mr. Hill has a J.D. from Yale Law School, an M.A. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Economics from Morehouse College. He also served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Jack B. He is currently an Executive Board Member for the Bay Area Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society and a member of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area.
“Sidley’s leading litigation practice will provide me with exceptional opportunities as I return to private practice,” Mr. Hill said. “I look forward to developing my practice and working with the many attorneys I know and respect at Sidley.”
The white collar practice group in Sidley’s San Francisco office includes David Anderson, the former First Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of California who joined the Firm in 2010.
