Don Buder, a highly experienced transaction lawyer in the food, beverage, and restaurant industries, has joined the San Francisco office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP as a partner.
Buder brings three decades of legal experience to DWT, with clients ranging from startups to established Bay Area corporations. He joins a practice that has been ranked among the top food and beverage groups nationwide by Chambers USA, the directory of leading lawyers for business, and has a core team of lawyers with significant experience in business transactions, food safety litigation, and FDA/USDA law.
“San Francisco is a hotbed of innovative food, beverage, and restaurant companies,” said Jesse D. Lyon, who leads the food and beverage practice at DWT. “These clients have come to rely on Don for his excellent and practical strategic guidance as well as the breadth of his contacts in the industry and among investors and service providers. We are excited for Don to expand our California presence.”
“Don is a strong addition to our team” said Riley Lagesen, DWT’s national restaurant industry group chair. “We are fortunate to work with many of San Francisco’s most exceptional groups and Don brings great clients and skills.”
Buder was previously a co-founder and managing partner of MBV Law, a 14-attorney transaction and litigation firm in San Francisco started in 1985. Prior to that, he was an associate at Heller, Ehrman, White & McAuliffe.
“I’m very pleased to be able to join this dynamic new platform,” said Buder. “DWT understands that great lawyering starts with a commitment to understanding the client’s business. The firm’s nationwide reach and the excellence of its attorneys in food and beverage and across so many substantive practice areas will allow my clients to receive the highest quality service, no matter what challenges and opportunities they face.”
Buder received his bachelor’s degree at Princeton University and his J.D. at the University of California at Berkeley. He serves on the boards of numerous philanthropic and non-profit organizations.
