Robert J. Guite has joined the San Francisco office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as a partner in the firm’s Business Trial practice group. Guite joins from Squire Sanders, where he was hiring partner for that firm’s Northern California offices.
Guite focuses his litigation practice on commercial, class action, products liability, ERISA and insurance matters. He regularly advises retailers and consumer products manufacturers on brand protection and unfair competition litigation and represents employee welfare benefit plans, fiduciaries and insurers in ERISA fiduciary and benefits litigation. Guite also regularly represents clients in alternative dispute resolution processes and serves as lead counsel in mediations, arbitrations and judicial settlement conferences, at trial and on appeal.
“Rob’s knowledge and experience is both complementary and supplementary to our existing commercial litigation capabilities. He is a well-respected and tremendously talented litigator, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the firm,” said Guy N. Halgren, chairman of Sheppard Mullin.
“Sheppard Mullin is a top-notch full service firm that offers an excellent platform to grow my practice. I am impressed by firm management’s strategic vision, as well as the firm’s dominant position in the Bay Area market and its successful expansion in recent years,” Guite commented.
Guite received a J.D., with high honors, from University of Montana in 1995 and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Seattle University in 1992. He is admitted to practice in California, Washington and Montana.
Also today, Intellectual Property partner Dave Randall joined Sheppard Mullin in Los Angeles from Dickstein Shapiro. Earlier this month, IP partner Jim Soong joined Sheppard Mullin in Palo Alto from Greenberg Traurig.
Sheppard Mullin’s Business Trial practice group includes 200 attorneys firmwide. The firm has 90 attorneys based in its San Francisco office.
