WilmerHale is pleased to announce prominent litigator Joshua H. Lerner has joined the firm as partner in San Francisco. Lerner joins WilmerHale from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in San Francisco.
Lerner frequently serves as lead counsel for some of the world’s leading technology companies in trade secret, class action, and commercial litigation in federal and state courts around the country. His broad litigation experience also includes high stakes trademark, patent and founder disputes. Lerner draws not only on his law firm experience but also in-house counsel experience at a large biotechnology company to counsel clients in achieving their goals.
“We are thrilled that Josh is joining the firm in our San Francisco office. His trial experience will prove invaluable to clients and will augment our already deep bench of trial lawyers across the firm,” said Susan Murley, co-managing partner of WilmerHale.
“I have had the opportunity to work with many of the firm’s partners over the years and am excited to join this impressive group of litigators,” said Lerner. “I look forward to bringing my practice to the firm’s platform and continuing to counsel clients facing high-stakes litigation.”
Lerner’s addition to the San Francisco office reflects the firm’s ongoing expansion of its West Coast presence to benefit its clients in the region, including industry leaders in sectors vital to the global economy. Earlier this year, environmental litigators Davina Pujari and Christopher Rheinheimer also joined WilmerHale’s San Francisco office.
Lerner has been recognized for his contributions to the litigation bar, including being named a Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation in the areas of Intellectual Property, Employment Law, General Commercial Litigation and Products Liability. He has also been named a Star by LMG Life Sciences in the area of General Patent Litigation.
Outside of the courtroom, Lerner has taught business torts at University of California, Hastings College of the Law and served as Vice President for the Federal Bar Association. He received his BA from Reed College and his JD from University of California – Berkeley.
