Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that André Thiollier has joined the firm as a partner in the Transactions Practice Group. Thiollier has extensive experience in cross-border transactions with particular emphasis on Latin America, including Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Mexico. Thiollier comes to Foley from DLA Piper, where he advised clients on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, venture financings and general corporate matters.
Thiollier’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, emerging growth and venture financings, and general corporate and business counseling. He represents a variety of clients, ranging from early to late-stage private companies, strategic buyers, and venture capital and private equity funds across various industries, including technology, life sciences, health care, banking and outsourcing.
“We are thrilled to bring on someone with André’s level of experience to the Transactions Practice,” said Christopher Cain, co-chair of the group. “His strong history of success and significant cross-border experience are a welcome addition to our team as we continue to focus on growing our presence in Latin America.”
Prior to joining DLA Piper, Thiollier worked in the private equity group of a New York-based firm and, before that, practiced law in Brazil for over 10 years in one of the country’s top law firms. He is a native Portuguese speaker, and is fluent in English and Spanish.
“We continue to focus on expanding our capabilities in Northern California with the addition of top lateral talent, and André’s addition immediately deepens our bench strength and complements our growing team in Silicon Valley,” said Antoinette F. Konski, managing partner of Foley’s Silicon Valley office. “His skill set and entrepreneurial drive will enable us to provide even greater service to the transactional needs of our clients, both nationally and abroad. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.”
“I am very excited to be a part of what Foley is building in Northern California, and to help further strengthen the team here in Silicon Valley,” said Thiollier. “Foley’s extensive footprint and entrepreneurial culture were also a big draw, and will allow me to better leverage my connections in Latin America, especially in Brazil. I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues and further developing the firm’s Latin American transactions practice.”
Thiollier is the latest in a series of laterals who have joined Foley’s Northern California offices over the past few months. In February, the firm announced the addition of nine attorneys to its Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices, including partners Natasha Allen, Brandee Diamond, Nicole Hatcher and Louis Lehot. In March, Dahna Pasternak joined the firm’s Silicon Valley office as of counsel in the Chemical, Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Practice Group.
