Morrison & Foerster, a leading global law firm, is pleased to announce that Eliot Adelson has joined the firm as a partner in San Francisco in its Global Antitrust Law Practice and Investigations + White Collar Defense Group. Mr. Adelson’s practice includes civil and criminal antitrust litigation and internal and governmental investigations. He has significant experience representing U.S. and Japanese companies. Mr. Adelson is the fifth lateral partner to join the firm’s Global Antitrust Law Practice in the last year, and the second to join in San Francisco following the recent arrival of Bonnie Lau, whose practice also focuses on civil and criminal antitrust litigation. Mr. Adelson joins the firm from Kirkland & Ellis LLP in San Francisco.
Mr. Adelson has litigated various matters for both corporations and individuals. He has tried many bench and jury trials to verdict. Among his recent matters, Mr. Adelson represents a Japanese global manufacturer of electronic components in a putative class action, advises one of the largest local TV station operators in the U.S. in a putative class action, and represented an auto parts company in several antitrust investigations.
In addition to his private practice experience, Mr. Adelson previously served as a Deputy District Attorney for Alameda County in California.
“Eliot is an outstanding trial lawyer whose practice further strengthens our rapidly growing antitrust group,” said Jeff Jaeckel, co-chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Global Antitrust Law Practice. “The addition of both Eliot and Bonnie substantially expands our antitrust capabilities in San Francisco at a time when Northern California is a significant venue for antitrust litigation. Eliot’s experience in Japan, combined with our market-leading presence in Tokyo, makes him a valuable addition to the firm.”
Mr. Adelson joins Morrison & Foerster’s deep bench of antitrust attorneys based in offices around the world, including Berlin, Brussels, London, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Tokyo, and Washington, D.C. In addition to Ms. Lau, the firm has recently welcomed the following partners to its Global Antitrust Law Practice: Lisa Phelan, former Chief of the National Criminal Enforcement and Washington Criminal I Sections of the Antitrust Division at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ); Daiske Yoshida, who has broad experience in cartel and other investigations; and partner Vishal Mehta, who has experience in all aspects of antitrust law with a focus on mergers and acquisitions.
“I joined Morrison & Foerster because of its top-tier antitrust practice, leadership in the San Francisco Bay Area market, and position as the top international law firm in Japan,” said Mr. Adelson. “The firm has recently made some impressive additions to its already formidable antitrust group. I’m excited to be a part of this growing team and to work with my new colleagues on our clients’ legal challenges.”
