Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Susan von Herrmann, Paula Leibovitz Goodwin, Jon D. Feldhammer and Richard J. Guggenhime have joined the firm’s Trust & Estate Planning practice in San Francisco. Susan, Paula and Jon join as partners and Rich joins as senior counsel.

Susan, Paula and Rich have significant experience helping individuals, families and couples plan and administer their estates in preserving their wealth. The team provides advice and representation in all aspects of personal planning, trusts, estates, tax, estate administration and related disputes. Their clients include technology company senior executives, founders and leaders of hedge, venture, capital and investment funds and partners in professional service firms.
Jon, a former senior trial attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service, counsels corporations, partnerships, and individuals on complex tax controversy matters. He has extensive experience resolving estate and gift tax disputes, foreign bank account report penalty cases, like-kind exchange disputes, and residency issues against the California Franchise Tax Board and the IRS. Jon also works with clients to correct improperly reported offshore arrangements, navigate through the Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program, and other IRS programs.

Susan earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law and received her B.A. from Stanford University. Paula earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and received her B.A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder and her LL.M. (Master of Laws) degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University School of Law. Rich earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and received his B.A. from Stanford University. Jon earned his J.D. (Order of the Coif) from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and received his B.A. from Vassar College. Prior to joining Perkins Coie, all were with Schiff Hardin.
