Squire Patton Boggs Makes Two Partner Hires in San Francisco

International law firm Squire Patton Boggs has strengthened its cross-border Corporate and Real Estate practices with the addition of Charlotte Westfall and Victor M. Marquez, who join the firm’s San Francisco office from CKR Law LLP.

“Charlotte and Victor deepen our West Coast practice in several strategic areas,” said Northern California managing partner Linda Pfatteicher. “Their mix of international clients and local market connections aligns with our practice here in California and we are delighted to have them join the team.”

Ms. Westfall joins the firm’s Corporate Practice, bringing extensive experience handling venture capital financing, mergers and acquisitions, and SEC compliance matters. She counsels public companies on corporate governance, public disclosure issues and other business matters. She also assists her blockchain and cryptocurrency clients with navigating the regulatory landscape to achieve their goals. Ms. Westfall also represents technology companies, including those developing software and clean technology. Additionally, as a native Mandarin speaker, she provides strategic market entry, marketing, branding and corporate development advice to Chinese companies seeking to enter the US, as well as US companies entering China.

Commenting on her move, Ms. Westfall said, “Squire Patton Boggs has a diverse cross-border corporate practice with a long-standing presence and strong reputation in Asia. The firm offers an ideal platform to grow my practice, and I’m excited to work with my new colleagues.”

Mr. Marquez focuses on real estate transactions, land use and zoning laws, general commercial litigation, state and local government relations, and community outreach in the context of land development and redevelopment for both private companies and nonprofits. He brings to the firm extensive experience working before administrative, legislative and executive bodies in California. He is a registered lobbyist and an expert in outreach aimed at gaining governmental and community support for his clients’ real estate and development projects both in the private and nonprofit sectors. He also advises investor groups with acquisitions and site control for various property developments, and assists with financing vehicles for complex multi-use real estate transactions for local, national and international clients.

Mr. Marquez said, “The firm’s expertise in government relations and real estate, particularly relating to infrastructure development and finance, is exceptionally strong. I was also attracted to the firm’s collaborative culture and am excited to leverage the firm’s platform to support my clients’ current needs, as well as cultivate their future growth with the support of our firm partners, staff and associates.”

The addition of these partners follows other recent hires the firm has made in Northern California. In September, international privacy law expert Lydia de la Torre joined the firm in Palo Alto and IP specialist Greg Chopskie joined the firm in San Francisco.
