The arrival of Lior Nuchi — a new San Francisco partner in McGuireWoods’ Corporate Practice who represents companies on the leading edge of information technology and life sciences — received media coverage Tuesday in The Recorder, a publication covering the Bay Area legal industry.
In the interview, Nuchi said he’d had his eye on McGuireWoods for some time because of its consistently high rankings by authoritative independent voices including the Association of Corporate Counsel and BTI Consulting.
The decision to depart Alston & Bird’s Silicon Valley office became even clearer, he said, when McGuireWoods opened its newest office in the spring in San Francisco.
“Even at startups, [in-house lawyers] are increasingly taking a leadership role in selecting who the outside counsel is going to be,” Nuchi told the newspaper. “Given how my practice has evolved, how I’ve become the outside counsel to the in-house legal departments … I decided that the best firm for me was a firm that was extremely highly ranked by the in-house legal community here.”
