BakerHostetler today announced the addition of Curt Roy Hineline to the firm as a partner in the Seattle office. He comes to the firm from Bracewell, where he chaired that firm’s Seattle litigation practice. BakerHostetler established its Seattle office in 2014 through a strategic combination with intellectual property boutique firm Woodcock Washburn, which first opened the office in 2000.
As a trial lawyer, Hineline focuses his practice on handling complex commercial, business, and securities litigation. He represents public and private companies, officers, directors, issuers, underwriters, and bond trustees through domestic and international class actions, non-class actions and large commercial litigation proceedings. Hineline has tried more than 50 cases to verdict before federal and state courts, arbitration panels, and regulatory agencies throughout the country concerning contracts, fiduciary duties, fraud, consumer protection acts, the Insurance Fair Conduct Act, the Affordable Care Act, healthcare, the Lanham Act, TCPA, RESPA, TILA, accounting and legal malpractice and employment.
Hineline also represents corporate clients, including their officers and directors, through high-level matters, including internal investigations, securities fraud and SEC regulatory violations, and derivative claims. Additionally, he represents shareholders in minority oppression suits.
“I chose BakerHostetler because of its superior reputation and national focus on complex commercial, business and securities litigation. The firm and its focus are a great fit with my almost 30 years of experience as a trial lawyer,” said Hineline.
“Curt will be a valuable resource to our clients as our firm expands the litigation practice in the Seattle office,” said Michael J. Swope, Partner-in-Charge of the Seattle office. “His multifaceted experience as a trial lawyer handling matters in federal and state courts throughout the country further strengthens BakerHostetler’s renowned national litigation practice into the Pacific Northwest.”
Ray Whitman, Chair of BakerHostetler’s Litigation Group added, “Curt has a deep understanding of his clients’ needs when preparing a case for trial. He’s known for his practical approach and ability to focus on the most important facts. His trial skills will enhance an already accomplished national trial team of more than 350 litigators in 14 offices across the country.”
Hineline graduated with his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1986, and earned his B.S. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1982.
