Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added David Y. Yang as a partner in its government contracts and procurement policy practice. The third new partner to join K&L Gates’ Seattle office this year, Yang arrives from Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker LLP, after previously having practiced more than a decade in Washington, D.C.
With nearly 20 years of experience, Yang advises companies of all sizes on government contract matters, including audits, cost accounting, bid protests, claims, compliance, intellectual property, prime-subcontractor issues, small business matters, and litigation and disputes. He has an extensive practice representing clients in litigation, arbitration, and in various government forums, including successfully protesting and defending some of the largest defense and civilian procurements before the U.S. Government Accountability Office and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. In addition, Yang counsels clients on Contract Disputes Act claims before boards of contract appeals and on multimillion dollar False Claims Act cases in courts throughout the U.S.
“David’s deep experience will be a benefit to our government contracts clients across the firm,” said Pallavi Mehta Wahi, K&L Gates’ co-managing partner, United States, and managing partner of the firm’s Seattle office. “We are excited to welcome him to our growing Seattle office, which has now added three new partners in the first three months of the year.”
Yang’s arrival follows the additions earlier this year of corporate partner Christopher Bellavia and environment, land and natural resources partner Robert Smith in K&L Gates’ Seattle office, as well as the launch of the firm’s national security law and policy group, which aligns closely with the work of lawyers in K&L Gates’ government contracts practice.
K&L Gates has welcomed a number of new partners and of counsel so far this year, including additions in the firm’s Seattle, New York, San Francisco, and Miami offices across practices such as corporate and franchise, health care, environment, land and natural resources, and asset management and investment funds.
Lawyers in K&L Gates’ government contracts and procurement policy practice assist public sector procurement clients worldwide on regulatory, transactional, and litigation matters. The group represents Fortune 100 companies, small businesses, and startups alike in their dealings with federal, state, and local governments and business partners such as resellers, manufacturers, prime contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
