About to mark the one-year anniversary of opening the firm’s Seattle office with a 34-member team, Morgan Lewis is pleased to announce the addition of veteran healthcare partner Amy Magnano, and associate Michael Maddera. Both lawyers join from Bennett, Bigelow & Leedom and will continue to represent healthcare providers and facilities in litigation, healthcare regulatory investigations, and other matters, including privacy concerns.
“The addition of two healthcare-focused lawyers in Seattle strengthens our capacity to represent the innovative and growing Northwest healthcare industry, while enhancing our nationwide FDA and healthcare practice’s reach to clients,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Amy has a keen grasp on issues facing the sector today, and clients in need of advice on compliance with medical privacy and security regulations or that are faced with the potential of litigation will find value in her capabilities.”
Amy will represent clients involved in complex healthcare, licensing, and disciplinary litigation. She will also counsel legal professionals, healthcare systems, and physician groups on compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), with a particular focus on HIPAA privacy, security, and breach notification requirements.
Mike also handles advisory and litigation matters and represents both physicians and healthcare facilities. He focuses on privacy, contracts, product liability, commercial disputes, corporate restructuring, and torts. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/US.
“Amy and Mike bring a skillset that can be beneficial to meet a variety of needs for our healthcare and life sciences clients, including in-demand knowledge of privacy law requirements,” said Kathleen Sanzo, leader of the firm’s FDA and healthcare practice. “With their deep connection to Seattle and the city’s legal community, many of our lawyers based in Seattle know them and recognize they are a great fit with Morgan Lewis.”
