Jamie Evans joins Orrick from Fenwick & West, where he co-chaired the Capital Markets & Public Companies Group. Over the course of his 20-year career, he has advised on some of the highest-profile technology public offerings in history. Jamie joins an Orrick tech practice that is counsel to over 4,000 emerging growth companies, including over 700 new companies added in 2022, as well as many leading public tech companies. This hire is the latest in a string of 29 strategic growth hires in tech since the beginning of 2022, coupled with the firm’s combination with fintech regulatory firm Buckley in February.
“Jamie has a stellar record in tech capital markets, including having worked on some of tech’s landmark IPOs. His close ties to the tech community and the bankers and other financial advisors who support it will complement our relationships in the tech ecosystem,” said Orrick Chair Mitch Zuklie. “Jamie and our team have incredible respect for each other, and Bill Hughes and I are thrilled to add him to our roster as we build on the momentum of the past four years.”
“I’m super excited to reunite with Jamie as we address our expanding opportunities in tech and life sciences,” said Bill, who heads Orrick’s Capital Markets team and previously practiced with Jamie at Fenwick. “We have built an incredibly broad and deep offering to serve our client base of more than 100 unicorn companies, and adding a talent of Jamie’s caliber will help us deliver even more value to clients.”
Jamie has advised on offerings that have raised over $40 billion of aggregate proceeds for companies including Facebook, Google, Peloton, Fitbit, Redfin, Zillow, Compass, Gitlab, Smartsheet, ZipRecruiter and many others. He has represented the industry’s leading investment banks, including Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Citigroup and Evercore, among others.
Recognized by Chambers USA as a leading capital markets lawyer in California and the western United States, Jamie has represented issuers, underwriters, shareholders and other parties in a variety of public and private offerings of both equity and debt securities. In addition, he regularly advises on mergers and acquisitions and related securities law issues and provides ongoing advice to both public and private companies on general corporate compliance, SEC reporting and governance issues.
Jamie noted: “The Orrick platform is incredibly compelling – the global tech company portfolio, the depth of sector expertise in areas such as fintech, energytech and artificial intelligence, and most of all the firm’s unique culture, differentiated talent model and commitment to innovation. I think Orrick will shape the future of work and the future of the business of law, and I’m inspired to be part of creating that vision with this team.”
Jamie will split his time between the firm’s Seattle office, which recently moved into a new space at 401 Union Street, and Silicon Valley. He will also spend time in the firm’s Santa Monica office.
