Winston & Strawn Hires Brinton M. Scott, Two Associates for Shanghai Offices

International law firm Winston & Strawn hired Brinton M. Scott as a partner for a Shanghai legal job, according to a press release.

Scott, who has worked in China for more than 15 years, will take on corporate, intellectual property and employment law assignments.

Fluent in Mandarin, the partner will tackle mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and foreign direct investments. He leaves a job as partner with Clyde & Co., and two corporate associates from that firm are also joining Wilson & Strawn.

“We are delighted to have this experienced transactional team led by such a prominent practitioner as Brinton join us,” Asian offices managing partner David Hall-Jones with the firm said. “Brinton, Jerry [(Zhan) Liu] and Sabrina [Yang] bring outstanding capabilities that perfectly complement Winston’s preeminent corporate practices and its maturing Asian footprint.”

Scott’s experience centers around advising Fortune 500 companies and large private multinational corporations regarding their involvement with acquisitions, buy-outs and large-scale Greenfields.

Equipped with a law degree from the Willamette University College of Law, Scott also holds a Certificate of Chinese Law from the East China University of Politics and Law.
