International law firm Reed Smith today announced the appointment of Ivan Chiang to its partnership. Based in Shanghai, Ivan joins the firm’s corporate and securities group from K&L Gates.
Ivan has over 15 years of experience advising clients in China on mergers & acquisitions, capital market transactions, private equity financings, RMB fund formation, direct investments, construction and property related matters.
He also has broad capital market experience advising companies offering and listing their securities on the Hong Kong, London and Luxemburg Stock Exchanges. Ivan has worked in-house in the technology, semiconductor, and wireless communications industries.
Ivan’s appointment follows that of Counsel John Tan who joined the Shanghai office in June this year. Jay Yan, Shanghai Office Managing Partner, is building Reed Smith’s Shanghai team, located in Wheelock Square, one of Shanghai’s newest office towers on Nanjing Road West, in the heart of Shanghai’s commercial district.
Ivan’s appointment follows that of John Tan who joined the firm earlier this year as counsel specialising in compliance and litigation, especially in the areas of life sciences.
Roger Parker, Reed Smith’s Managing Partner for Europe, the Middle East and Asia commented:
“We are working to expand our team in Shanghai and diversify our capabilities, to serve new and existing clients looking to do business in China.
“Ivan’s proven track record, of helping clients in China and Taiwan and throughout Asia, will complement our existing office expertise in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai, and assist our clients when entering such a key world market.”
Jay Yan, Reed Smith’s Shanghai Office Managing Partner added:
“We have seen increasing referrals of client work into Shanghai in the last year from Reed Smith’s global platform. Ivan’s expertise in financial services, investment and capital markets gives added strength to our ability to serve clients investing in China and we welcome him to our China team.”
