Continuing to expand Rimon Law’s presence in China, Xiaowei Ye, former Managing Partner of Morgan Lewis & Brockius’ Beijing office, has joined the firm as a Partner in Rimon’s Shenzhen and Washington, DC offices.
Ms. Ye has over 25 years of experience in Asia representing major multinationals, financial institutions, international and Chinese companies as well as private equity funds in China-U.S. cross-border mergers and acquisitions and investments. She also advises multinationals on regulatory matters, including obtaining approvals and licenses in regulated industries, general regulatory compliance, and crisis management related to regulatory investigations, product recalls, and other issues.
“Over the last decade, we’ve seen significant changes in the legal world, and Rimon has been at the vanguard of this trend. Clients want to hire top attorneys with the flexibility to work anywhere and a platform that can handle complex, bet-the-company deals. When I was introduced to Rimon, I spoke with my colleagues and I saw a great firm for my clients,” said Ms. Ye.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Ye has advised on some of the most high-profile transactions involving Chinese companies and major international players doing business in China. Her groundbreaking work has included advising on the first joint-venture investment bank between China Construction Bank and Morgan Stanley, as well as representing NASDAQ in the establishment of its representative office in China. She has also advised some of the world’s largest asset managers on regulatory issues related to their operations in China.
Ms. Ye joins Rimon’s established China practice, which includes Shenzhen partners Zheng Lu, Fred Chang, Letao Qin, Jason Xu, Peng Chen, and David Xue. The firm’s China team boasts a number of partners who have played major roles in building the Asia-based operations of international firms, including Chris Terry, who helped open the Beijing offices of DLA Piper and Gunderson Dettmer, and Fred Chang, former General Counsel, Head of Compliance for Deutsche Bank Asia.
Rimon has looked to expand its presence in Asia as its attorneys have become increasingly involved in working with fast growing companies in Asia, including representing Chinese enterprises in cross-border IP transactions, investments, and dispute resolutions. The firm is also active in counseling U.S. companies on mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investments, technology transfer, IP protection, and other transactions involving Chinese or Asian counterparts.
The firm’s investment in Asia reflects a broader focus on international expansion: since the start of 2020, Rimon has also opened offices in Sydney, Dubai and Berlin, and has added 10 new lateral partners.
“Expanding our presence in Asia was a natural move for Rimon, as we see companies continue to look to us to handle complex multinational and cross-border transactions. With her track record of success and her presence as one of the top attorneys in Beijing, Xiaowei was a perfect addition to Rimon and a great leader for this new office,” said Michael Moradzadeh, CEO of Rimon.
Rimon has 32 offices across four continents. The firm is widely known as being at the vanguard of legal innovation and has been repeatedly recognized by the Financial Times as one of North America’s most innovative law firms. The firm’s Managing Partners were both named ‘Legal Rebels’ by the American Bar Association’s ABA Journal and have spoken on innovations in the practice of law at Harvard and Stanford Law Schools. Rimon and its lawyers have also received numerous awards for excellence, including from Best Lawyers and Chambers & Partners.
