Perkins Coie Pumps Up Palo Alto IP Practice

Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Michael A. Glenn has joined the firm’s Palo Alto office as a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property practice. He was most recently a patent attorney at Glenn Patent Group (GPG), a Silicon Valley-based patent prosecution boutique he founded in 1992. Prior to GPG, Glenn held various senior in-house positions at Intel Corporation, National Semiconductor, and Digital Equipment Corporation.

“Michael is an outstanding patent attorney,” said Chris Kao, Office Managing Partner of Perkins Coie’s Palo Alto office. “His in-house experience and his technical know-how allow him to effectively and successfully counsel clients on a wide range of patent issues. Our local clients continue to need sophisticated IP advice, so we expect Michael to be in great demand.”

Glenn has extensive experience in all phases of patent prosecution, including IP audits and strategy, opinions of counsel, pre-litigation patent defense and assertion, appeals, reissues and reexaminations. His matters have involved technologies that include telecommunications, information technology, business methods, medical devices, semiconductors and mechanical inventions.  Glenn is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.

In addition to his law practice, Glenn serves as an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco. He is past chair of the California State Bar Intellectual Property Section and the Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Law Association.  Prior to his law career, Glenn worked as an electrical engineer at GTE Lenkurt and Ampex Corporation.

Glenn’s arrival follows closely upon other recent additions to Perkins Coie’s national IP practice, including Partners Michael R. Henson and Brian Kinnear and Senior Counsel David St. John-Larkin (Denver); Partner Kelly D. Hine (Dallas); and Partners Michael R. Osterhoff, Adam L. Marchuk, and David B.
