McDermott Adds to Top-Ranked Intellectual Property Team in Silicon Valley

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery LLP today announced the appointment of Mashhood Rassam as partner in its Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group, based in the Firm’s Silicon Valley office. Mr. Rassam will add to a growing list of talented, senior litigators in McDermott’s Silicon Valley office at a time when competitor-on-competitor litigation in the tech industry reaches an all-time high.

Mr. Rassam, who joins from another top corporate law firm in Silicon Valley, focuses his practice on patent litigation. Mashhood has significant experience litigating patents in federal courts across the county, including in the Federal Circuit, the Eastern District of Texas, the District of Delaware, the Northern and Central Districts of California, and the District of Oregon. Mashhood’s cases have involved a wide range of technological fields including software, e-commerce and internet-related technologies, and semiconductor design and fabrication technologies.

Mr. Rassam received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 2005, where he was co-chair of the Hinton Moot Court Board and a member of the Hinton Moot Court championship team. In 2003 he received the Thomas R. Mulroy prize for excellence in appellate advocacy. Prior to law school, he received his B.A., cum laude, from Northwestern University.

He is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and the Federal Circuit.
