Greenberg Traurig Further Strengthens its IP Practice in California, Adds Trial Lawyer Scott Oliver in Silicon Valley

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP continued the expansion of its Intellectual Property Litigation Practice in California with the strategic addition of Scott Oliver as a shareholder in the firm’s Silicon Valley office. Oliver, who joins the firm from Orrick, has more than 25 years of experience defending and advising companies across an array of industries, including wireless, software, semiconductor, and digital distribution.

Oliver handles patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret matters, blending creative legal strategies with comprehensive, digestible explanations of complex technology. He designs and implements individualized legal strategies tailored to each client’s unique business objectives. An experienced and highly technical litigator, Oliver has handled more than 150 matters and a dozen trials before both the International Trade Commission (ITC) and juries.

In addition to his litigation experience, Oliver advises clients on strategically growing and managing their intellectual property portfolios, guiding young companies through patent strategy, and consulting handset manufacturers and patent pools on the licensing of 802.11, 4G, 3G and LTE patents. Oliver earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from University of San Diego School of Law, and his A.B., cum laude, from Harvard University.
