Tim Brugh, the former Vice President and West Coast Director of Fiduciary Services at The Goldman Sachs Trust Company, has joined Pillsbury as a partner in the firm’s marquee Estates, Trusts & Tax Planning/Private Wealth practice in Silicon Valley and San Francisco.
For 25 years, Brugh has worked with ultra-high-net-worth clients to develop and implement multigenerational wealth management, estate planning and philanthropic strategies. In addition, he has provided fiduciary administration for trusts, estates and private foundations. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Brugh worked at Wells Fargo Private Bank, where he served as Senior Vice President.
“Pillsbury has long been known for its top-ranked private wealth practice, and we continue to enlarge the scope of our talented pool of attorneys in those markets where client demand is highest,” said practice leader Jennifer Jordan McCall. “Tim, who has deep connections in the greater Bay Area and Los Angeles, brings unique credentials to Pillsbury. The high-net worth individuals and organizations we advise will benefit immensely from him being here.”
Brugh’s hire follows on that of a number of other highly regarded wealth management and tax planning practitioners by Pillsbury. In January, the firm brought aboard seasoned estate planning advisor Joseph Field—who splits his time between New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco—as a senior counsel. Field is renowned for his extensive experience in international income and transfer tax planning and cross-border estates and trusts advice. And, in 2017, Pillsbury added partners Michael Kosnitzky and Keith Blum and special counsel Ivan Mitev in Miami and New York. All three focus their practices on advising high net worth individuals, as well as corporate and partnership tax clients.
“I have known and respected Kim Schoknecht for nearly 20 years and have always viewed Pillsbury’s broader estates and trusts practice as one of the nation’s finest,” Brugh said. “I cannot think of a better place to return to private practice.”
Pillsbury’s Estates, Trusts & Tax Planning/Private Wealth team advises individuals, families, family-owned businesses and charitable foundations in the planning and administration of complex trusts and estates and in U.S. and international estate, trust and tax planning. The firm’s ETTP lawyers develop cutting-edge, customized transfer tax and estate plans, utilizing trusts, wills, various entity structures such as partnerships and LLCs, and domestic and cross-border plans to preserve and enhance clients’ wealth for current and future generations. Serving clients globally, the practice maintains a strong bicoastal presence in the U.S., particularly in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, DC and Florida.
